Well our family vacation has come and gone… What a great place Lake Vermilion is !! The local businesses were awesome and helped us with all our needs from food and beverage to bait and tackle…

We rented a VRBO home on the west end of the lake. It’s something we will do again and we also saw some real nice looking Resorts on the lake…

    We fished some,we played alot!!!

Fishing for walleyes was tough to say the least !! I tried my usual tried and true open basin trolling and had zero luck…tried west end all the way down to Fraziers Bay..I tried every crankbaits in my boxes from small and large smash shads to shallow and deep HJ … Lots of great looking Mark’s of bugs, bait and monster returns that had me totally believing I would have a walleye take my offering, but it wasnt happening…

Had some nice musky follow my baits but no muskie were boated…

Found some real nice smallies up to 19″ that put a big smile on my face..

Pan fishing out of the pontoon was a hot for the little ones and adults alike !!

Yes, I saw some of your pics (video) on FB like the bean toss game on the deck of the Eagles Nest. Looked like a great family vacation.

And yes, Vermilion can be a tough nut to crack. Couple times I went there on the east (Tower) side out of Big Bay. Both times caught a couple nice walleyes the first half hour out fishing and then they were gone. Nothing for the rest of the week. sad

Had a nice muskie follow but did not go. Later was rewarded with a 38″ northern.

Regardless a beautiful lake and surrounding area.

Once the boat gets anchored up and the floaties come out, radio on, and ice in cups it’s one of the best times around.

    Well done. woot

One of the keys to an enjoyable trip, if the eyes aint biting, target something else or put the rods away and find something else to do.

I heard earlier this year that the Giants Ridge golf courses AND ski runs were open at the same time.
