    Ah, gotcha.

Walleyes were shallow a couple days ago. Lead core was still ok-ish if you could find the pods of fish.

Let me know if you need anything.

Anybody been up recently? Heading up in the morning and fishing the weekend. Will let you know how we do. Going to try and find some crappie first, then go after some walleye. Ideally fishing shallow for walleye, but we will see.

Got up here yesterday and have mostly found them in 15-20 during the day on the mud edge off reefs and shorelines. They’ll move up on the shallower structure in the evening.

Guessing since you mention crappies that you’re out west so maybe this east end report isn’t the most helpful anyway

Just left Des Moines and fishing the east end mostly. If you see a maroon fiberglass lund feel free to come say hello.

Got 7 or 8 walleye tonight and 1 perch. Two keeper walleye, the others were small. 10-20 FOW.

How about shallow trolling cranks in the dark? Husky jerks, x-raps, original floaters, hit sticks. Shallow shad raps, flicker Shads etc.. Maybe doesn’t work as well on tannic stained waters? Seems to work most places most of the time in my experience… Not everyone’s cup of tea nor the safest, though, I know.

That’ll work very well right now up there. Early morning and evening.

Have always caught nice fish this time of year doing that. But it’s not my favorite way to catch fish and I troll so much all summer on the river that when I come up here just don’t do it much.

Yeah, we aren’t the biggest fans of night fishing, and heading to Mille lacs tomorrow night. So we likely will reserve the night time trolling for there. Probably a good idea for up here though.

Today has been tough. 2 walleye, both in 6 feet or less. Seems everyone is fishing deep. Would rather not kill the fish.

Had to fish a little deeper with some friends the first few days but when they got more comfortable with the jig then we moved shallower and have been smacking them pretty good. Haven’t caught many fish deeper than 13 feet the last 3 days. Jig with minnow and plastic have been about the same catch rate.

Went out this morning to try to learn more about my FFS and ended up out deeper (20-30ft). Lots of fish out there but size definitely runs smaller on average.

Glad you were able to get on them. I love the jig and plastic bite.

What is current water temp roughly?
Planning to be on the east side end of week into weekend,
but the wind doesn’t look real friendly at this point. So guessing that will limit my options some.

    Thank you!

The water temp was 52 last night where we were.
