Looking at Verizon “unlimited”plans, currently have 35gigs of high speed between 3 phones with roll over, I’m looking at there larger plan so each phone would have x amount of high speed, my worry is my old Verizon plan is better and faster as they are always wanting us to switch over to a different plan… Have some friends and family that have experienced slower speeds after switching plans. Looking for some thoughts.. so confusing the plans.

30 bucks a month for unlimited 5g. Cant go wrong.
That looks like a plan for tablets and hotspots with 30GB of premium data

Went to consumer cellular. Being single (again) I only needed 1 line, and despise being on the phone at all. $20 per month now vs a hundred or more with Verizon.

did consumer cellular give you a free case of miracle whip when you switched it to them.
August 16, 2022 at 7:44 am #2141650So I’m going thru the losing my company phone (retired) and having to go on my own soon. Company is with Verizon…read the fineprint on that $30/month plan. It’s a BS ploy…it’s $30/month IF you have 4 lines. Cheapest I could find with Verizon was in the $70/month range. T-Mobile has the best rate for “seniors” with perks for new phones and my wife’s been with them for years with no issues. Once I switch, we’ll be at 2 lines for $70/month with all taxes/fees included.
Edit: rereading the OP…maybe he needs 4 lines? I agree the plans are so confusing…apparently I’m confused just reading posts on IDO!

Some of them you get big time throttled after a certain number of gigs/data usage which may or may not be an issue for you depending on how much data you use. There is a true unlimited plan with no throttling but you have to pay up for it.
August 16, 2022 at 8:28 am #2141658If you have high speed internet at home through Xfinity, check into Xfinity Mobile.
August 16, 2022 at 8:41 am #2141661I don have 4 lines. AT & T is doing a great job in the great north for coverage. I have a work phone that is AT&T and personal that is Verizon. Yes, I have 4 lines so that probably helped my cost.

This is what I’m talking about, looking if they actually have a true unlimited plan, right now our plan they cannot slow speeds because of demand, but I’m worried that the new unlimited plan they will throttle you back when there high demand and not that you’ve went over your data limit. Yes I’m looking at 3-4 line plans.
Gitchi GummiPosts: 3025August 16, 2022 at 8:56 am #2141666yes, one of their unlimited plans is true unlimited with no throttling – it is called the “5G Get More”. I believe the other unlimited plans (5G Play More and 5G Do More) throttles you after 50 GBs of usage. They won’t throttle you when there is network congestion, only when you hit your data cap.

August 16, 2022 at 9:40 am #2141674The Verizon $30 does not have hot spot and limited data, but if your military or health care worker you get up to $40 discount. Also look at Verizon resellers like Visible, $25 a month.
August 16, 2022 at 11:32 am #2141710Good luck to you. They make owning a cell phone as complicated as possible. I think I’d be better off going back to a land line with answering machine.
August 16, 2022 at 11:54 am #2141718Verizon has been very good for me for 15+ years.
With a recent phone upgrade we also switched to new 5G plans. We chose 5G Start for my wife (low data user) and 5G Do More for me (regular travel to Canada). On my recent fishing trip to LotW it worked flawlessly – calls and texts were free and access to 0.5G data per day, plenty enough to share a few fish pics online and check the wind and weather forecasts. It’s true that her plan always risks throttling and my plan it could happen after 50G…but she doesn’t need it much, we’re almost always on WiFi anyway, and I don’t game or watch movies on my phone so I’ll never hit that level in a month. For $119/month after my military discount it’s a strong value for a network that’s very good almost everywhere.
August 16, 2022 at 12:08 pm #2141727Without scrolling back up someone was talking about tmobile. Does your actually work? My parents have it and dont seem to work anywhere hardly. Theyve had it forever and are apparently to stubborn to switch.
August 16, 2022 at 1:32 pm #2141785About 2-3 years ago after having Verizon for years (since we got cell phones) I switched to Total Wireless. Same Verizon network. 3 lines, 60 GB shared for ~$88/month. 5G if the phone can use it.

the downside that’s often brushed under the rug with carriers like Total Wireless is data depriorization. Meaning in times on network congestion, Verizon will give service priority to Verizon customers over Total Wireless customers. To some, that’s not a big deal, but it is worth mentioning for an eyes wide open view.
August 16, 2022 at 6:55 pm #2141887Verizon finally figured it out that nobody is going to pay $100 for what competitors were down to $30. I dumped Verizon after 30 years for Spectrum. Zero difference except Spectrum has great customer service like Verizon USED to have. Spectrum cable service is still the worst though.
