I didn’t have much time to dig into this and thought someone may have a reasonable suggestion. I ran into a guy looking to sell some used custom barrels. Long story short is he is a retired gunsmith. He’s cleaning house and I’m trying to find a values to put on these. 30-06 up to 7mm RUM

Tough one. Highly variable by action and caliber and maker. Potentially very difficult to move unless you have bore scope pictures and can assure buyers they aren’t shot out.

My approach would be find out what the owner would consider as a reasonable price for the full lot. Then figure out an average starting price based on that and list on a gun auction site and let the chips fall where they may.

It’s so rare for something to sell for below the real market value on auction sites. There are people out there looking for EVERYTHING, so if you list it, they’ll bid it up to what it’s worth.

Grouse, I’m NOT looking to flip these. He has 6 or 7 that came in for various reasons. Mostly because someone “mail ordered” a custom barrel from Kimber and others and the owners ran into whatever financial issues and he kept the barrels as collateral. Bills weren’t paid and there they sat.

    Randy-
Barrels are honestly worth between $0-$1000.

    Kreiger’s are worth more.

Questions to ask barrel type contour?
    Type of rifling 5R,
Forged, match crown, hammer forged, ?

Any work that has been done to them? Are they already setup for like a Rem 700?
Are they already headspaced and reamed?

The list goes on and on.
