I’m not much of a handgun guy, but I inherited this practically like new Desert Eagle .357 from my father in law. What’s the best place to get a real value of this gun? Gunbroker.com? Also, what are the legalities to selling this if I chose to? Again, not much of a gun guy. Thanks for any help.

search online and that will tell you the used market. as far as selling it taking it to a dealer and having the proper paperwork and transfer to the new owner is the safest way

Desert Eagle are a niche / speciality interest handgun and as such demand is limited.

Assuming that gun is standard black and in NRA Condition of Very Good to Excellent it’s worth about $1500 to $1800. However… It may take a long time to find an interested buyer to pay that price. Also, fees come out of the above range so net proceeds will be less.

The market for anything other than 9 mm handguns is very fickle now because buyers don’t want to buy guns that the can’t get ammo for.

Personally, I would not sell a handgun in this day and age without going to a FFL transfer dealer and having the buyer do a background check.

A nice piece and if this was a year ago I’d be making you a cash offer of $1200. However, I’m not in the market at this time. If you want to move it I’d recommend taking that list price and cutting it down 10-15%. You could post on Armslist, haven’t used it since they started charging a fee.

It’s a fun firearm, you should buy some .357 rounds and take it to the range! You might just realize you’d rather keep it!

The only restriction on a private sale is if you sell to a known felon. Check the questions on a 4473, if you are selling to someone you know would fail a 4473 and NICS background check, then you may want to re-think who you are selling to. Sporting goods stores will gladly charge you a hefty transfer fee to accommodate your private sale. It’s up to you whether you choose to do that or not.

No sir. My house hold already has those. But a friend of mine always offers to buy mine. So I’ll play middle man
