UTV Setups

This is a picture of my rig. I’d like to see what other people have done to outfit their utv’s.

Very nice. I used to have the my monster box on a grizzly until I ran out of room.

cool setup, curious why it appears you have a hard sided topper with a removable fabric portion? why not go all hard top? Care to share more pictures? especially of the rear rack setup you have?

This is my work in progress, there is always something you can improve on these machines but I have this pretty well set up for my needs.

Just started getting mine setup with a cab and heat over the weekend. I am having a buddy build a rack to haul my frabil on instead of towing it.

@dbright which model Frabil? I’d like to see your setup when the rack is done.

This is what I did for the ‘rack’… Very simple dowel/treated plywood construction. The dowels slide right into the holes around the bed, so no modification of the Ranger was needed. That’s a Citadel sitting on top, made it high enough for a five gallon bucket to fit underneath. This pic is from last year after adding the Minn-Dak auger mount (slick install on that, also no mod needed on the UTV), and realized I needed to add a front light bar to the roof this year, as the headlights get a bit obscured with the auger up there.

Do you use ramps to lower/raise the flipover from the top of the rear rack?

Ben I have a older frabil predator. It was a tight fit in my 6.5′ box in my old truck. I am trying to decide if it will be in the box and have the rack hold up the back of it or if it will be sideways behind the box so I can still use it.

They don’t make a hard top. Only soft so I made the sides because zip open doors suck in the cold. Here’s a few more pics.

Seems ice fishing has come a long ways from sitting on a bucket.

These vehicles get you to the spot so you can sit on a bucket

Joe – I can wrangle it up there myself if needed, lower the tailgate, set the house vertically leaning against the gate, then just slide it up the rack. Certainly not ideal on an ever aging back – picked up a one man this year for that exact reason. With another guy it’s easy to just lift it up there, all heaters/propane, rods, tackle, etc. are in the box, so the house is empty.

Thanks for the info, with the warmer winters we seem to be having (I’m a believer in global warming) I’m really leaning towards a vehicle that won’t sink if I punch through the ice…Argo and Wilcraft intrigue me as they can really extend the ice fishing season because they float…

I like that front auger mount.

What are some options for a ranger?

Wondering if anyone has a Honda pioneer and if they have a auger rack?

I’ve been wanting to mount a digger carrier to the front of my Pioneer 520, but not quite sure on how to go about doing it. Wondering if anyone has any ideas?
