I’m still trying to find a furnace for the shack. Space and windows make it a problem. Is there any reason someone shouldn’t use this style of heater?

I have seen them used…have a blower on it also and run a generator to power it!

The fan is the only drawback, needs to be working to stay lit unless you bypass it but that’s not a good idea. I’m not even sure you can bypass it but there must be a way. Man, the little direct vent wall furnaces that were $250-$300 5 years ago are $750-$800 now, I feel your pain if it’s cost holding you up.

I had one in my shack for years. Cons: heat comes off near the top increasing the temperature gradient i.e. cold floor- hot up high. Second it doesn’t feed its own air for combustion. So it pulls in cold air from all the little cracks creating cold spots. Best solution is the direct vent furnace like an Empire. It is a closed system and feeds it own air. The heat comes off at a lower height. Self-powered. The fan option is not necessary.
