I currently have been using small snaps for attaching lures . Some say big no , tie leader directly to lure ,cause fish see,s it ? I also tie loop knots which work fine unless im changing out lures . I like changing out quickly and has paid off . Any thoughts on this ?

I use fly fishing snaps for more aggressive action lures. For more finesse type lures and jigs that I might have to twitch in front of their faces, I tie direct. I feel if they get a good close look at the lure, I don’t want them to see a snap that may look out of place and cause them to shy away.

Site I don’t think would bother me as much as action of lure. No snaps for this guy. Gives me a reason to buy more rods jester

I use these exclusively for everything but tip ups and rattle reels. Biggest I’ve got on them was a 23″ walleye with no issues.

Thanks for the response gives me something to pick from , good ideas . Might have to do a controlled test, loop knot versus snap ?

I tie direct but know people who use the small clips on on panfish jigs ans small crankbaits.

Think i will rig 2 rods with loops and 2 rods with snaps , see how it works at the least find what color they are liking . Thanks Jim

I often use a snap swivel, just my preference.

i have used all different kinds and the one thing they all have in common is that they are so small that it makes it tough to tie and grab a hold of. i almost prefer tying direct but i also have a bunch of rods so usually i am ready to go pretty quick.

This may be a problem when the fish are finicky, but if fish aggressive and works, do it.

I use speed snaps on vertical jigs and tie direct to horizontal jigs.

I tie direct with jigs,or use loop knot.Fast snaps for spoons, jig raps, ect.Curved forceps really help when changing baits with those small snaps.

Forceps is a good tip. The small size does make it difficult to manipulate a lure on and off .

Similar to others – tie direct for panfish jigs, fast snaps for walleye spoons/rippin raps etc.
