Anyone staying up? I think I’m gonna try. I watched the Sochi gold medal game and thought it was an extremely entertaining game. Well worth staying up for if it is anything like last time.

    Puck drop is 12:10 central.

I’ll probably catch some of it because I’m working tomorrow night anyway so I need to stay up. I’m excited for it.

However, where’d you see the 12:10 puck drop? KFAN has said most of today that they start coverage at 10pm,. and NBCSN has 9:45-1am listed as the Women’s Olympic hockey championship.

I think you’re right. I’m watching nbcsn right now and they’re showing warmups. I did a google search and found a site that said 11:10 eastern.

11:10 ET, I’m staying up for it here in Michigan. It’s going to be an early morning but hopefully worth it unlike the men’s game last night!

I don’t watch a lot of women’s hockey so maybe that is the reason, but this is extremely frustrating to watch.

I feel like the US team has a lot of talent, but it appears to me that Canada understands the game a lot better. The refs are in the way of the play so much that it’s fairly embarrassing, and I do not understand the inconsistency of calls. The body contact rule makes no sense to me, we get a penalty for a check on the boards, but a Canada player completely blows up on of our girls behind the net without the puck and it’s no call. To me it seems like they can’t decide whether they want to let them play or call everything.

I feel like we’re making a lot of simple mistakes as well.

Seriously no call? That would be a penalty in men’s hockey!

Those gals definitely found a different gear in the 3rd period and OT. Tied at 1 in the SO right now, glad I’m watching.

That shootout winner is up there with the Peter Forsberg move for Sweden (ironically Canada scored on that move in this shoot out)

For obvious reasons, it is a very different game than the men’s game, but in some respects I like it even more than men’s hockey.

Women’s and girls hockey is very entertaining these days. Even back 5 or 6 years it was fun to watch, but now there are so many excellent skaters out there. Before it was one player, like a Natalie Darwitz who could just skate around everyone, not anymore.
Congrats to Team USA! They have been snakebit in the Olympics, but have had Canada’s number fairly frequently in recent years. Those two teams are really tough. That move by Lamouriex was just plain sick. Almost as good as Kucherov eh Pug?

    X10s better than Kuch’s deke.

Actually, Kuch’s play is more trickery than a deke. He doesn’t do much. It’s not much skill and more reputation.

Well, she did use 3 of them to score and he didn’t use any so I guess that is an unfair comparison. -)

Just finished watching the recording. Excellent play from the USA team and a well-deserved gold medal win.

The USA’s D was as airtight as you a can get against the high-power Canadian offense. Great goaltending and D. Very proud of the MN, ND, and WI players on this team, some great players on what is surely one of the best USA sides ever assembled. And of course Rob Stauber behind the bench!

Very, very sad to see the poor sportsmanship on the Canadian team during the awarding of the medals. Spoiled brat behavior by Jocelyne Larocque disgraced the entire Canadian team. Emotions are no excuse for being that poor of a loser on the world stage.

Was she the one who took her medal off right away?

Yep, took it off her neck and held in hand refusing to wear it…. I guess.
Sure wasn’t any thing to be ashamed of by either team and regardless of what the outcome was going to be.
To me, thay should all be very proud
