Saw us bank stadium ranked ugliest stadium in the world and 12th ugliest building overall. Never been there but I think it looks nice. Just curious what others who’ve been there or live around it think?

It’s hideous. Worked there on and off for 2 years. Our company cut out 97 million dollars in concrete that was poured wrong. That’s before our cost and what it cost to re pour.
It is really nice inside but awful on the out side. My name is signed on the final beam lifted in to place with that giant crane from Germany

The company I work for had one of our cranes in the stadium while it was being built. It was the Manitowoc 18000 with 280’ of main boom and 160’ of luffer.
I was able to go work in the stadium to supervise the assembly and disassembly of our crane.

The crane you mentioned is a Terex/Demag CC 6800. A 1375 Ton crane owned by Sarens.

We worked on quite a bit of the lighting. Took this photo on March 26, 2015 while we were on site for a mock up.

I would imagine that your crane lifted our some of our concrete. I won’t name drop, but that was the worst ran job I’ve ever been on. After we started cutting out concrete, I understand why the build was so spendy.

I hope the architect sees this and the articles.

I’ve never seen the building in person, but on TV it looks just fine. The Metrodome was far uglier IMO. The interior looks fantastic for football games. I can’t stand games played in Indianapolis with all the shadows that stadium creates.

I’ve always thought the unique Viking ship shape and the architecture of U.S. Bank Stadium was quite stylish myself.

I’ve only been there a few times as a fan for events but I did get to see a lot of it when I worked security at the stadium when the super bowl was here. From the outside it’s supposed to look like a Viking ship, which I don’t think I would’ve guess if I didn’t know, but whatever it’s fine. Enclosed stadiums from aerial view just look like some sort of container, not much you can do.

This inside is awesome. As much as an open stadium would have been nice, enclosed was the right call and the amount of sun that gets in through all the windows makes an awesome look. Then the ability to have those huge doors open up and air flow in when it’s nice out is a cool touch.

I love the Architecture and the Engineering is amazing. Not happy what they charge for cocktails though. flame

I got invited to the Indy Colts game. I’m amazed at the engineering of the roof! Loved the Viking ship motif everywhere. Wasn’t a bad game either…

I agree, when there’s a daytime game, the natural sunlight that comes in through the glass roof is really unique for an indoor stadium. I’ve been to about 5-6 games there since it opened.

The early season games in September can get pretty hot though. Like sweltering hot.

This was based on analyzing design related tweets and 15% of the ones about US Bank stadium were critical roll

I don’t think it’s ugly, I think they nailed the sandcrawler design lol

Butt ugly exterior, great interior. Sight lines are great, access to seats is best in class, concourses and amenities are top notch.

I think it looks awesome, very unique – one of the coolest looking stadiums in the US. But sounds like there was some major errors in construction – Bearcat mentioned the concrete and I remember the siding panels being in the news for trapping moisture and not channeling rain water properly. Then there was the whole NCAA final 4 thing where they had to block out the windows with giant curtains because apparently basketball players find city lights distracting. $150 million in growing pains, no big deal, just keep playing those e-pull tabs!

rotflol rotflol That’s funny and well played. I think US Bank is pretty cool looking exterior, and the interior is the best I’ve been to. And I’ve been to at least a dozen other big time stadiums. The only one that was close is AT&T (Cowboys) Stadium.

The E-Pulltabs were a huge success, it just took awhile for them to catch on. But they will have the states portion of the stadium paid off 20 years early. So now the politicians are going to fight over reallocating the windfall moving forward, with the tribe trying to get them banned.

I know a couple who has won huge on the bingo games on there like 4 times. Just won again Saturday night over 40k. They won 60k (had to split) last summer and a couple others in the 20k range. Its kinda lame to play though since you just sit and watch it.

I know they’re building a new one in the Chicago suburbs but how is Soldier Field not atop this list? How the “P-Funk Mothership landing on Classic Roman Architecture” design ever got past the concept phase blows my mind.
