Just so we are clear I’m not looking for secret spots. I am wondering if anybody knows if the crappie cribs on URL still exist or if they are broken apart and washed away. I’m looking for a challenge when I’m up there in a few weeks and want to know if I should just stick to the permanent shack or try the cribs for a bit. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Ryan,
I havn’t been by any of the clusters in years, but I have to imagine that they are still there and in decent shape. They were orignally made out of green tamarac logs, and filled with diamond willow brush, so rot or floating away shouldn’t be an issue. Guessing there has been some collapse in spots but guessing you’d be able to locate them with the coordinates.
As far as getting out of the perm, yes, yes and yes! But, as you probably already know, that last storm really messed up the lake. It may be really tough to get to those crib clusters if there’s not a main road in the vicinity.

I’m guessing it will be tough. But I appreciate the response. Thanks.

I’ve heard that the new Lakemaster chip shows them. Truthfully I’d be surprised if they do but I will check mine and get back. The Upper Red Lake Association used to show them on a map on their web site but I think they went defunct because the map is no longer there. They guy to who knows is Cookie and he is layed up this year and not sure he would divulge the info anyhow.

Thanks. The lake master chips do show them as they are marked on my hummingbird. When comparing that to the coordinates that I’ve found before online though, they are off from one another by a few hundred yards. So that will be a guessing game in itself.
