Im headed up mid January with a couple of buddies for three nights. Ive scoured the IDO archives regarding URL, but I am hoping for some recent recommendations on whom to rent from. We’re bringing an atv and portables to hole hop during the day. We are looking for somebody who is willing to move the wheeler if the bite shuts down. Im interested in bear paw, beacon harbor, and chad’s rentals. Red lake remote is booked. I am interested in any feedback, good or bad. Feel free to pm. Thanks.

Beacon harbor all the way! All their houses are hooked up to generators and they dont overbook themselves like the resorts on the south end that let anyone and everyone through their accesses . They care more about keeping their customers happy than taking their money. Very personable people and great staff. I know them personally and wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

Could give Chad Benson a call or anyone at the Boondocks landing as I’m sure they will get you on fish.

I’ve enjoyed staying at Beacons Harbor as well. They close their road down to 75 patrons and their hotel guests so its not as crowded on the ice. Better structure up there as well.

Beacon Harbor was great to us last year. Very friendly people and a great access!

Beacon Harbor or Outdoor Authority are both great outfits

I’ve stayed at Bearpaw and they were great guys. Caught a lot of fish!

John and Ann at Beacon Harbor, and Steve and Tyler at BearPaw will all treat you right. Have stayed with both multiple times and they are great folks that work hard to keep you on fish.

After the 1st of the year Beacons road use is restricted to those that rent their rooms/cabins, those that rent houses from them and the outfitters there, and a small number of folks who buy the limited number of seasonal road passes they sell (75 or 100 I believe). This ensures that there is plenty of room for folks to spread out and have “fresh” ice to hit all winter long. And on Red, you want to be spread out and quiet.
