First ice is becoming a distant memory. And Red lake is still putting out good numbers of fish for those willing to put in the work. But, how long can this bite last?

37 fish Friday, 45 fish Saturday anywhere from 12in-28in.

With the new bag and slot limits I hope the lake doesn’t get fished out.
As for when the bit will turn off I have heard it stays pretty solid through January. I think it will depend on how thick the ice gets and how much snow accumulates on top of it. That seems to always affect the bite.

I get concerned too, debating about going up and having Hawthorne put me on some fish. I wonder if it slowed down this week? Up on LOTW the ice is awful and the fishing has been the worst they have seen in 10 years. No snow = No Bombardier trips

We have the how long will it last discussion every time we are on Red ! Lots of people enjoying the bite.

I was up this weekend and the fishing was spectacular. If you’re willing to put in the work you’ll find fish.

The bite was aggressive when working tingler spoons or rippin raps. But still plenty of fish on set lines.

I was on Red and did awesome too, just got home! My wife caught her first burbout & the look on her face was priceless. We threw back a pile of 17″-21″ and didn’t keep anything under 15″ or we would have been done fast!
A buddy was on LOW out of Springsteel (are we supposed to mention resort names? Apologies in advance if not) and he did really well too, no burbout though ;)

With all the wheelhouses pouring out I’d make sure I am at least a mile away from all pack. Hopefully you’ll find those aggressive fish and be able to stay on a school without moving around too much.

Were you on Red friday? The difference a day, and moving a mile made all the difference in the size we were catching.

Congrats to the wife on her fish.

Remember when Red was the go to destination for slab Crappies…
