Ok guys pretty sure we are going to come over to Upper Red Lake. We will probably do a sleeper and bring portables of some sort. Thinking the end of January any info and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in Advance.

We enjoy JR’s. His bait is reasonable and fresh, they cook your fish, and his propane was cheaper than here in Brainerd last year. Nothing up there is too fancy but who cares.

Stayed at JR’S and rogers and both have their faults. Rogers bar has a pool table but the lady bar tender is mean as hell and rude. People at JR’S were much more friendly however I thought rogers campground was better and it offered electrical hookup whereas Jr’s didnt. West winds bar is legit!!!! Really nice but I’ve only been in the bar I’ve never used their services. People often say to get away from the crowds. My experience has been that depth makes more of a difference than proximity to others but that’s just my limited experience

    Unless a cancellation, he’s

    Probably booked for the season.

Just got back from 2 days at Red Lake Remote. If you can find an opening its probably the best place on upper red. Jonny P. Really takes care of you and his houses are great and far from the crowded east and south shore zoo.

I won’t even comment on that video because the OP was asking about the aprox 1/3 of upper Red Lake that non-indians can fish.

TO the OP, most outfitters seem to have good reputations on upper Red. I would look at JR’s and Beacon Harbor. Also watch all the reports leading up to your trip and if you can bring portables just incase you need to move a lot to find fish.
