Crews unsuccessful in efforts to locate man reported missing in Mississippi River

UPDATE: A water recovery mission in the Mississippi River was unsuccessful Wednesday night, according to authorities.
The Minneapolis Fire Department said six fire crews, two fire department boats, the Ramsey County Water Patrol and the Ramsey County Dive Team all responded to the scene after a person who was swimming reportedly went missing.
Authorities said crews remained on scene from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. but didn’t find anything.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Minneapolis Fire Department is involved currently in a recovery mission of a man who went underwater in the Mississippi River.
Bystanders confirmed they saw a man go under to the fire department.
Minneapolis and St. Paul fire departments are on scene with Ramsey Water Patrol.
At this time, no victim has been located. Crews are actively searching.

From what I saw in another report, it appears the man tried to swim across the river from Hidden Falls Park to Minnehaha Creek area and didn’t make it.

According to an officer at the scene, two men started on the St. Paul side of the river and tried to swim across. One made it and the other did not. Multiple witnesses reported seeing one of the men go under water.
The person who successfully crossed the river ran to the people at the Minnehaha Dog Park and had them call 911.
