Upper Mississippi is getting shallow but still kicking out a lot of nice Smallmouth. It’s s little work getting to some of the spots but worth the effort. The fish are hitting a bit off everything but the last couple trips its been tough to beat fishing just a sucker minnow with a hook through its nose. We are flipping these up to the river bank and around logs then just letting it swim. Or if the minnow is dead let it float and twitch it once and a while. You will know very fast if there are any Smallmouth in the area.

Nice Mike. I’m planning on heading up there sometime soon and bank fishing. Always fun to do in the fall and winter. I’m stubborn and use artificials but I still catch a lot.

River smallmouth are awesome fighters. Even a 12 incher feels like a good fish sometimes.

Those beavers are really causing a problem. If it wasn’t for you going through there my guess is that it would be completely dammed up.

Nice work. Water was still warm enough for wading?

62 degrees so just right. Not sure if the water was even knee deep so didn’t get that wet. Guessing it was less than 10 minutes tearing out the dam going down river. Maybe 5 minutes pushing back up river through it.
