The pheasant season is now over for Iowa.We had a great population of birds across the state this year and I hope this continues.I ended up shooting 24 birds with 30 shot total over my dogs.I had 20 shot by T-giving day but once December hits I do alot more ice fishing than hunting. Not great #’s but a great year in my book.My high points of the season were a partial albino bird taken and hunting with good friends.
I do know BIRD( Al Clark) had a great year for bird #’s.He is a very hardcore bird hunter with great dogs.I bet himself and his buddies took close to 100 birds over his fine dogs.
I hope all of you had a great season as well .

Thank you for the very fine compliment Ryan. We both will have to make it a point to get together next season to watch the dogs hunt. You notice I mention dogs and not ourselves…. it really is all about the dogs isn’t it. A true joy to enjoy Artist Motion. Thank you for complimenting my dogs but I am sure yours are just as good if not better.

I have never kept track of birds shot until this year… I always hear guys talk about #’s and sometimes their #’s seem a little high or skewed. So knowing that I do try to get out every time possible I did keep track of basic #’s this year.

Myself I ended up with 50 birds in the bag with 107 birds shot over the dogs for the season.

I do plan on going back out some more in southern Iowa for hopefully a couple of Quail hunts and also to just plain take some pictures.

it was also a great year in central and northern iowa…i was pleased with the 30 roosters that i shot along with 3 partridge….it was the first season for my black lab “Lindy”…she did great, retreiving more than 50 birds in her first season and finding many cripples…along with my 30 roosters, my roommate shot 47, and a couple other friends that i go to college with are over 50
