Looks like my last opportunity to get out this season and shoot some roosters will be Saturday. Does anyone have any secret public land near the NW metro? How about near Marshall? I have a public land map, but there are just so many?

I just logged on to ask the same question. I have Tuesday and Wednesday off and plan on trying to find some Minnesota roosters within an hour or so of the north metro. I generally go down by Faribult with limited sucess. Last week I tried south of Howard Lake still had some fairly fresh tracking snow and could only manage to flush a couple of hens. I too use a public hunting book. I think it is just a matter of getting out there and trying different areas. I plan on finding some land with frozen cattails and giving that a try. Do we really believe any one will give the location of their honey hole?? Guess it’s worth a shot!!

Hey guys, sorry if I’m a little late on a response for you. The public areas around Montevideo, including Lac Qui Parle hunting area, are very good this time of year. There are several north of Monte that have long rows of evergreens that can be great late in the year. Especially if there is any snow on the ground.

    Good Luck!
