Today is a day that I will never forget.I was hunting with my Penns. Posse friends, also my best friend Tom Ashley joined us for the hunt.We seen alot of birds today and we put 5 birds in the bag.We seen close to 50 birds today. But what made the day was a partial albino bird that was bagged.I’ve hunted roosters for a long time and have never seen one in the wild.I’ve seen them mounted but never have I had the chance to see one in the wild. Here are a few pics of this special bird.

Hey Ryan, thats the first i’ve ever heard of a partial albino. Never heard of one around these parts. I know theres about 5 diffrent kinds of pheasants that can be raised, goldens, mulinistic etc. but not albinos. Rare for shure. Are you going to get it mounted?

Is the bird in good enough shape to have mounted ? I know a guy that shot one and had it mounted… it is a cool looking bird… I also saw 2 flush once in the same field at the same time with some other birds… never saw them again… does your bird have some gold and green in it that just glistens in the light ? Thanks for sharing Ryan

Oh just thought I would share a picture or Grif and Jeter snoozing after one of the hunts…. Al

what a beautifull bird. is there anyway the dnr can tell if it’s a partial albino or a different breed of pheasant. the reason i am asking, i have seen several breeds of pheasants from game breeders, it looks kind of like its got some reese pheasant cross breeding in it. whatever the mix, it’s a great catch.

I guess it could have some cross breeding in it but there are no game farms or “fun’ breeders in my area.I think this bird had a rare gene in it.Like I say I’ve hunted for a long time and have never seen anything like it.I will be around asking a few taxidermist I know later.Take care.

Briar, The picture of the birds is nice but what about the gun! What make is it? It has beautifully figured wood. I think its a keeper.I prefer a single trigger but other than that it would fit well in my cabinet.

LOL well i wish I could claim the gun for my own cabinet but its my father-in-laws…I typically use an 11-87 or my 28 guage Rizzini….That gun is a FAMARS..12 guage of course, and has a pic of his dog engraved on it.

My father had one done about 5 years ago or so. If I think of it, I’ll take a pic and post it for ya. He took his from the wild on a SD trip.
