Well, here you have it guys. I never intended for my Judge to be used solely for protection. I really intended it’s main use to be for thinning red squirrels around the cabin, whenever I wasn’t carrying a shotgun or rifle that is. 09-17-12, I just had to find out if it could be done. Not only have I hit flying clays with the dumb thing, it has now claimed it’s first bird! 2 1/2″, #8’s, 3″ barrel. Good thing it was close!

PS – And not a single pellet in the breast meat! If I’d a known I was going to have this kind of luck today, I woulda found me a scratch ticket instead!

That’s cool, odd, but cool. I can’t imagine attempting that with a pistol given I’ve been a shotgun guy my whole life for wing shooting.

I tried a few times with my 410 barrel on my Thompson Contender… Only thing I sucessfully killed were leaves. Nice shootin’!

Whoops! Forgot I posted after midnight….. 09-16-12 would be the proper date.

Suzuki’s on it. I don’t have a dog for grouse so if I can get close enough to swat one, I do. I noticed that with all the greens in the woods yet that the birds were letting me get within 15-20′ of them and some STILL didn’t fly. So, having the multiple sightings, the confidence I’ve hit flying clays and disposed of a few red squirrels, I found myself in a moment too hard to resist. I saw 9 birds yesterday afternoon (I wasn’t even hunting!) and only 4 of them flew. This one was on the run when I pulled the trigger but that’s still WAY easier than when they fly. I tried for the best shot I could but the fact remains, I got lucky! The shot out of a rifled 3″ barrel scatters so fast and my model of the gun is double action only, adding to the difficulty of accuracy. I was trying to make the best with what I had on me and by no means have I found “my new groove”! It was a fluke opportunity with an “educated guess” shot. I was happy to see the bird was taken but I think I’d wound or lose a bunch of grouse if I made a habit of it so…… know that I don’t intend to do this again any time soon. It’s cool once…… without all the leaves up, I’m sure this would’ve never happened.

A kill is a kill. Looks fun. Nice job. Do it again!
