Bird numbers

Due to going to canada waterfowl hunting 2x this year Monday was my first time out pheasant hunting. I was not that optimistic with what I had heard and the bird forcast. I was shocked at the very least with how many roosters we saw. Birds were holding very tight! We got up 15 roosters within close range in the first and only field we hunted. However, the rooster to hen ratio was 2/1 rooster to hen. Kind of odd.

Birds did not seem to have been hunted much and I was shocked at the lack of walking paths through the WMA. Usually it looks like a Hwy in these areas by now. Guess maybe guys are not getting out due to the low numbers. That is fine with me. I will be out at least 2xs a week for the rest of the season. All public land.

Also very dry and too warm yet

    Good luck all!

Bird numbers are way down. Consider yourself lucky when you find nice pods.
