Is anyone else excited to get out there this weekend?

My brother, Dad, myself, and the pup will be joining my relatives and some friends in West Central MN for our annual Pheasant Opener hunt. We went to the game farm last weekend and the dog did great and I shot pretty good for a change, so I’m pumped to get out there. Numbers are down, but I guarantee we will see some birds.

Good luck man. Let us know what you see.
I’ll be hitting the IA opener in a few weeks.

Good luck Dan. I’ll try not to run them over on my way out tonight.

Not sure exactly you are going, but I’m not seeing any birds as I drive the gravel. It might be a long season.

I travel through the Benson area to SD. This has definitely been a down year for seeing birds along the road. Wet springs suck for these guys.

My cousin said he saw 10 in the yard when he was there a month ago, so I’m going to assume that wasn’t all the birds in the area. We hunted the farm last year in late December and saw 100+ birds get up out of one food plot, so I know we didn’t get them all last season.

Good luck on your hunt The birds in my area have been filthy the last few years. The first winter with deep snow and wet spring hit them, but not to a degree that was noticeable while driving around in the summer. This second year in a row though has definitely got numbers down. With the crops coming out as fast as they are however, Im sure there are still plenty of birds to go around for some real good shoots. Good Luck

I won’t get out until next Wednesday (MEA). The nice thing about that is I’ll have most public areas to my self.

I didn’t see a single bird on the way out Dan…I went through Benson at 4AM. Hard to believe they weren’t feeding with the full moon.

    Good luck this weekend!

Thanks for the scouting report. Maybe you could bring a few birds back with you.
