For the people that come to Iowa every year or are thinking about it the pheasants are at a 10 year high this year. Just seen a broadcast on the local news from the dnr on counts. They expect 25 to 30 thousand out of state hunters this year just behind South Dakota. Theres decent birds this year. 
I saw some young roosters in front of the combine today. They did not have all of the colors yet so it must have been a late hatch for some. We have been seeing some birds and it does look like the #s are up.

The bird #s are up here this year too but way off any 10 year high. I guess the count will do what the dnr wants-sell licenses.

i just got back from taking my son out on the youth hunt near DBQ. they were just finishing up the beans and all the corn was still standing. farmer said he saw “lots” of birds while he was picking. we only saw hens. keep picking boys!
