I lookek up some ama in the granite falls area. The seem quite small. I was wondering if it will produce birds or not. It seems like these public land receives so much preasure that there probably wont be any birds left. Should i make the three hour drive there. Thanks.

In certain areas that little cover is all that the birds have. I have seen areas that were not big enough to play a baseball game on produce flushes of 40 birds. The nice thing about small WMA’s is you can hunt a bunch of them in a days time while never walking the same ground twice.
Now the main question: Should you make the three hour drive to hunt? Only you can answer that one.
Some of my best hunts were exploring new areas with some hunting buddies knowing that you might waste an entire day and not see any birds or you might hit the mother load of birds at the first WMA and have to drive three hours back home early. Thats hunting, you just never know what is going to happen. That is why I and others do it as often as we can.
