Many of you know that I rescued a yellow lab pup from being put down. She is now 11 months old. Due to a busy schedule my hunting has really taken a hit this year. I finally got her out pheasant hunting for the first time today. I didn’t know what to expect but was quickly impressed. She stayed within range very well and if she was getting to far out I would yell BACK, and every time she would turn around and work closer. She also wasn’t affraid to get in the really thick stuff and even break ice to work the whole slough. Although we didn’t have much time today I can’t wait to get her back out. The only bonus would have been getting a bird, but that was my fault because we hit some public land that is right off a main highway and it gets hammered every day. Until next time.

on the rescue and it sounds like it will be short work until you are holding the first bird, which is one of the most special ones of any dogs career.
