Heading to central South Dakota on Saturday October 30th for 5 days of pheasant hunting. Just wondering if anyone has the skinny on the crop situation just east of the river on I-90? Thanks much!

From what I heard the Central Part of SD started way before MN did and when I was down West of Mankato last weekend, they had 60- 75% of the corn was gone!

I hope you have a great trip & hunt!

My contacts say the Chamberlain/Mitchell area is being harvested, but there is still quite a bit of corn in the fields.

Chamberlain/Mitchell is the area I am going to be in. Used to a lot of crops still in anyway, so nothing new. Thanks guys!

I was south west of Redfield, north of Miller and I would say that 80-90% of the crops were out. The CO we talked to said the farmers were a month ahead of last year.

Overall the numbers were down, but since the crops were out already it made for good hunting.

Where do you guys stay JT? Some other areas of the state like to claim they have the best hunting in SD, but I personally think the Redfield area is the best.

We stay in Beautiful Ree Heights.

We have had good luck between there and Redfield, a lot of hunters share your opinion.

Ree Heights!!! Wow. The memories. I grew up in Highmore. An old joke on the basketball team when referring to someone’s vertical leap. “The kid had ups, you couldn’t even get a Ree Heights phone book under him.”

If your crew is ever looking for something to do after dark, visit the glowing graves out at the cemetery. It was always a classic for tricking a fair maiden into our arms.
