Holy Moly I haven’t got any close to that… I would say the ones laying on the floor are what I typically have shot in the past… what are they around 18″ ???

Got one this year at 24.5 but have 3 mounted that were all measured 24+ but can never tell for sure unless they were pulled out of the bird. All the big boys get shot this time of year. Every late season bird is a trophy and the big tales make it all the sweeter.

I got a 25 1/2 and a 25″ last year in late december. Does Cabelas have that longest tailfeather contest? Last year I got second with that 25 1/2 incher. Goes by spur lenghth too. I think it was worth $300 for first. Might be worth a call. But ya had to bring in the whole bird.

Yes that is long, I have never broke the 26″ mark, but have quite a few 25’s and 24’s.

    That is a beauty!

Awesome bird! Borch’s Sporting Goods in Marshall usually has a longest tail feather contest for a $50 gift certificate. While I worked there, the winner was a 29″ and a 28″ the following year. My personal best is a 27″ tail feather from a big old ND rooster. He had huge 1.5″ razor sharp spurs that actually tore through my vest. Two weeks ago I shot one with a 23″ tail feather and my buddy had a 24.5″. Usually after every hunt we measure the 2 or 3 longest tail feathers just for kicks.

Bigfife you should have gotten that one mounted. I always look at any mounted pheasants I see and I can’t believe that all of them are 6 month old birds. My best is 3 quarter inch spurs, if I get one over 1 inch its going on the wall
