Spent the weekend chasing late season roosters. The snow made for some difficult hunting. A lot of the field roads were full of drifts…..bring your shovel. We hunted groves and rivers mostly. Large switch grass field had good cover yet, but walking them was difficult. Strange day Saturday, a lot of the birds were very skittish, flushing long out of range, but the birds we shot held very very tight. Weather was mild on Saturday and our group shot well taking our 15 birds by late morning. Same result Sunday but the weather was much colder with winds gusting to 25 mph, for some reason they birds don’t like the high winds and they were very skittish on Sunday. Key was getting the posters posting where the birds wanted to fly…..that’s not an easy task. All in all it was a great weekend! Looking forward to our next trip in January.
