I just got a new dog and I want to get him on as many birds this year as i can. If the weather isn’t too bad I want to go to Iowa in January. I have never been there and I am looking for ideas on good locations for public land etc. I suppose it will depend on the amount of snow as well. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone know if any part of South Dakota is open after January 3rd?

If you are looking for maps, click on the link below to see Iowa’s Wildlife Management areas. Go to the bottom and pick a county.

There is a lot of public land in the NW part of the state and typically that area has had good numbers of birds in the past.
