Five of us are trying to put together a trip to South Dakota. None of us have had the oppertunity to hunt there yet, but are looking forward to it. Our first need is to try to find a place that will be good for four 10 and 12 year old boys. We are looking for someplace that has plenty of birds and would be good for the kids, and not cost an arm and a leg. If any one has advice or ideas about our trip please feel free to chime in. We have two average dogs. Most of the fathers are in their 50’s and 60’s and one is 40. Thanks for your help ahead of time. Ric

Welcome rn2hunt I can tell you, in Kimball SD, don’t play the golf course….it had oiled sand for greens… Almost made me give the game up… I should have…

Call this guy. He’s an old friend who runs a small preserve. I’m not sure of his rates anymore, but Kenny does a lot for the local youth hunters. So he’s experienced with kids. I do believe you have to be 12 to hunt in SD though. At least it was when I lived there.

By the way, he just had a new grandbaby yesterday, so he could be headed up to the cities for a few days.

I would like very much an opportunity to get the boys out there, to at least see all the birds I’ve been hearing about. I’d like to see this myself quite honestly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. How do we repay you?

It might be best to call Kenny. I’m not sure how up to date he is with email. He’s an old school guy.

No worries. Our goal is to share with each other and hopefully help each other along the way.
