I finally found a place less than an hr from me that holds a huntable number of birds. In about an hour and a half Maggie put up 3 roosters and I harvested 2. Apparently a few years back some one stocked 50 birds on neighboring land and with the mild winters they managed to survive and reproduce and spill over onto 60 acres of crp that I can hunt. I’m about as happy as a pig in new mud.

Yep, pretty amazing but the weather and habitat have to cooperate to get that kind of result. there was 100 acres of crp but 40 was put into crops this year. I don’t know how long the rest will last. I’m going to have to work hard to resist the urge to over hunt the spot.

I remember going to Stout and finding some pretty impressive cacklin’ bird spots just to the north of ya…
