Pheasant Help

Have never hunted MN for pheasants as I have only lived in this great state for 5 years on an off but have heard there is some possible opportunities for some pheasant action. I am not looking for everyones hot spots or anything like that just a general idea of what direction I should head towards (public land). I live in the Winona area and have a pretty busy schedule so cant travel entirely to far. I also dont own dogs anymore and guess I am just icthing to get out for a weekend to enjoy the outdoors. What does everyone think? Any help would be appreciated.

Jackson County…plenty of public and good numbers the last few years.
