I have been just amped to go. My shorthair (Rex) is ready too. Have our Dakota trips all ready planned and on the minnesota opener we will be on a family farm out near Willmar. We have been in the yard about 2-3 times a week along with shooting the bow of course. ( I don’t know who is more excited, me or my wife to actually have some time with out me talking about it around the house) Its all about to start once again. The time we all wait for each an every year is coming near.

I’m ready to go, but I need to get the pup in a little better shape. I was anxious to see how Jazzi would do with not seeing a live bird since April. All fears were set aside when my buddy got a couple training birds last night. She made two retrieves at about 100 yards and it was all business the whole way. She has always been the type to run out to the bird and trot back, but last night it was full speed there and back. We even had a pigeon escape while putting some dogs away that she picked out easily in a thick patch of grass.

With a 4 month old and a 3 year old at home the pup has been doing a lot of this. But from what I could tell he was dreaming of the 2nd photo. We both can’t wait! We will be pounding public land most midweek days trying to keep in shape.

U of M homecoming is Pheasant opener, Wife works for the U have to go, and to top it off St. Thomas has their homecoming same day, her school, and we have a BBQ to go to.

So while you are all shooting bird, this will be the only time I ever refer to it this way as the U is my school, I will be stuck in front row end zone seats at TCF stadium!

and you can’t even drink a cold beer in there…. I would guess there will be plenty of birds when you get free!
