Or did everyone trade the guns for ice fishing poles? I’ll be out chasing roosters again this weekend.

Was out today. 17 below with the wind when we started, wow is that cold on the hands and face. Birds were very jumpy. We got 4 that we worked very hard for and did not find another that floated onto private land. I let the dog go a long ways into the private land and im pretty sure he was on it, but I called him back when he was almost out of sight I really hate losing a bird . Again, it was very cold!

We heading back to S.D. Early Sat.for 5 days. Looking forward to the late season hunt. We will be on private land so the hunt should be outstanding once again.

Went out for a couple of hours near Spring Valley. Put up 4 hens and no roosters.

Getting out everyday, birds are sure wise now. I still have an area that has not been touched yet this season. Thinking about hitting it Saturday.

I’ve been so freaking bogged down this fall with school, kids, illness in the family, and other assorted stuff that I’ve only been out a few times for a few hours. And things still don’t look good for the last couple of weeks. My dog is ready to divorce me.

Well yesterday a hot crappie bite kept me from hunting, but today the pup and I went for it. We walked a long ways and flushed about a dozen birds. The lone rooster got up just out of range. My hands were frozen so I called it an early day. It was great to watch the dog work as always.

The WMA’s out west are terrible now. Private land is about the only hope to fill the bag.

Did not make it out again.

This has not been a good year for me for hunting anything. This is the season of missed opportunity for me. Not my usual season of hunting.
