I’m heading out to the honey hole down by Madelia on Thursday to do a mixed bag deer and pheasant hunt. My dog has been only out once since October and to say he is wound tight is a understatement.

Anyone else? I might also make it out in North Dakota this weekend if I tag out ealry. Not likely, but possible.

Heading down to Pipestone/Lake Benton area for what I call the A.D.D. hunt. Rip’s mixed bag +1. Pheasants, field hunting for some ducks/geese if they are around, and of course the ML season opens Saturday for some deer. Plus a quick stop into Kjergards for the new gun. Who said visiting in-laws isn’t fun?

i’m heading somewhere to, just don’t know were, talked to a buddy this a.m. and he mentioned heading west for some pheasnat hunting and i informed him there is still some good duck hunting to be done on the river (find open water, find ducks) i’ve also had a couple of invites to deer hunt the metro zone in washington county. just about every picked corn field around hastings has geese going in to it. and the boat is still in the garage all nice and warm and ready to go. i bet if i tryed real hard i could do just about all these things this weekend.
one thing i will not be doing this weekend is anything on my honey do list which the wife brought up last night and i had to shoot her down like a green head hanging on a string over the decoys. it seems every year i have to remind her that before we got married she signed the papers.(our pre-nup has nothing to do with money, she can have all my money i can always go make more but she can not have all my time) as ted always says “when the seasons over, it’s over”

    good luck to all

It is a Thankgiving tradition. Hunt with the family until about 12:30, eat way, way too much, and then get back out for the late afternoon hunt and bag a few more. The last few years the afternoon hunt has not been needed with a full bag in the morning, but from what I have seen in limited action so far, that will not be the case this year.

Still beats watching the Lions or Cowboys game and getting fatter

Decided to forget the trip to ND this year, so we are going to be hunting MN over the long weekend. We’ll be hunting somewhere between St. Cloud and SD. More than likely around Willmar and Marshall. I’m hoping the ponds freeze up so I can get to some birds that haven’t been this fall.

I’ll be in Buffalo County chasing the brute I saw Sunday. Might have to sneak in some ML in Houston CO, MN as well. Too many choices, too little time.
