I am looking to try making my grouse a different way. We always end up putting them in a slow cooker which is good, but I wanted to try something different. Do you guys have any suggestions for preparing them on the grill or in the oven? Thanks in advance.

Hey Mark. I hope to be up there in October. I am starting to think I need to just move up there so I don’t have to hear Dodge bragging about all of these smallies that he is catching. I know the same thing is going to happen when the duck season opens.

Breast them out, butterfly, stuff with a layer of jalepano, wrap with bacon, toothpick to hold and grill. Or chunk the breast and do the above.

I got some young grouse that my dog has been putting up in the trees over the course of the last few weeks. The first two pics they are hard to see, but if you look on the right side of the three trees in the first one, there are three of them. The third pic you will probably find them right away as I caught the light just right. The second pic, there is only one bird. He is on the left of the largest sapling. There are three very small saplings to the left of him.

Your killing me Mark!!! I just got the o/u out yesterday to get her ready. I will be up in Florence county chasing grouse the first week in October . I hope to get over by you and Dodge soon after. Great pictures. You will have to send some if you get a bear.

I breast them out and then make a cassarole with fresh wild rice, mushrooms, and the grouse, you can add a soup base for a gravy, but I like mine on the more dry side

I’ll have to give that one a try Wade. The last time I made grouse I left the meat on the breast bone and soaked them in milk for about an hour, rinsed them off and rubbed them with lemon and made a mushroom, onion and parsley stuffing. After seasoning the meat I added the stuffing and wraped them in bacon and roasted them in the oven. Good stuff!!!
