Opener was good for us. Couldn’t ask for nicer weather for the dogs and the walkers…..frosty mornings warming up into the low 50’s Sat and it hit 60 on Sunday.
We worked switch grass for the first couple fields, and finished up with some opened up cornfields to finish our hunt. The birds held very tight in the switch grass….you could almost not walk slow enough. The dogs worked great, nice and close. It was a great time getting together with friends and talking about past hunts. Looking forward to taking my son down in a couple weeks.

Sorry about the quality of the field pic’s….taken from about 1/4 mile away with out my tripod

That looks like a blast. I miss hunting with my dogs, had to put the last one down a couple years ago and I do not have time for a pup right now. Enjoy and thanks for posting, brought back memories for me!

We hunted NW Iowa 6 guys Sat, 8 birds, 7 guys Sunday 9 birds, 16 guys Monday 29 birds. Not a steller opener but fun as always. To much corn left in here yet should get better as the fields come out and get turned over.
