All I can say is what a way to end a great season. The gang and I headed out to Ashley North Dakota for the last hurrah of the 2006 pheasant hunting season. We stayed at the Winchester Inn (aka) CatDaddy’s house from the site here. . Our original plan was to hunt on sunday dec 31st in Mn, then head out to Ashley after dark arriving sometime befor midnight. But when we found out Ashley got pounded with 16 inches of snow we figured we better wait till daylite on Monday jan 1st. We slept in late arrived in ashley about 11 am. We tossed our bags in the house jumped in the truck and followed Chris otta town headed for our first spot.
Spot #1 was a small grove of trees around a farm that had 50 or so birds in it. I shot one while on post.
Spot #2 was a mile long whinding cattail slough that Rod and I started to pust toward the rest of the posters. the action was fast and furious and by the end of the slough we had a total of 6 for the group. the numbers of birds in the ares was truly stagering I have hunted MN,SD,KS,IA and now ND for pheasants and this far exceeded my expectations. I could go on and on about spot after spot that Chris brought us to but it would be all the same thing BIRDS,BIRDS,BIRDS and more BIRDS. I dont want to sound like Im exaggerating but I would bet we saw 3000 pheasant in 3 days of hunting.
Bottom line is Chris is in the heart of upland and waterfowl country and his houses are nice and clean. You couldnt ask for better accomidations. Chris thanks again
