Isn’t anybody out chasing Rooty Rooster anymore?? I was out yesterday near Browerville with some friends and got 8. Lot’s of birds and they were still sitting pretty tight. Cooper pointed all 3 of the ones I shot! Sure is fun hunting behind a pointer till he get’s into the cattails! He was in there and i really had to concentrate to where the last time I heard him, where was he? I’d put a bell or beeper on him,but he has a hard time concentratiing with one on!

December 18, 2006 at 2:19 pm #27311What a great day sat. was weather wise. We where out on sat. 4 of us had 8 birds. We have shot around 140 roosters off our land so far this year.
As far as holding tight everyday is different, this last weekend they were not holding very tight.December 18, 2006 at 2:19 pm #512416What a great day sat. was weather wise. We where out on sat. 4 of us had 8 birds. We have shot around 140 roosters off our land so far this year.

December 18, 2006 at 8:38 pm #27335Was down by Mankato yesterday. Still seeing a good number of birds. They have been pretty skidish and doing a ton of running and fludhing far away. Wish we would get some nasty weather and some snow. I have the cover for them, but when its 40 degrees and sunny no need for them to be in there and hold tight.
We had our oppoutunity for a 3 man limit but it did not happen. Had a great day hunting with a few long time friends. Had some phenomenal dog work Rufus was heating up and locking up on points. Rollies Wire Hair was working great for a pup. Still have not gone into some great bird holding areas for the fact. Mr. Big Buck is still running aorund. I saw 5 different Roosters from my stand last night.

December 18, 2006 at 9:42 pm #27338Looks like back injury. Something must have been torn. Her discomfort was unreal. She’s been under house arrest for 3 weeks and the last 2 totally normal. I’m going keep her under wraps for another month. I’ll start walking her more but after what she went through I want to make sure it heals good before pushing her. Thanks for asking.

December 23, 2006 at 2:31 pm #27620Mike, where do you hunt around Windom? I am from there and still get down a few times a year. I hunt mostly north of Windom around Red Rock Ridge and east to Mountain Lake.Do you hunt any of the public areas? There is a new one near Curry that has been real good.
