It was my first time to a shooting preserve.

I’m ready to go again…just as soon as I find my leg as I think I left it on the back 40! Certainly got my walking in yesterday!

It sure is nice to watch those dogs work…and alway believe your dog even when he points 10 feet from the truck!

I think the next time I go…I’ll just take the camera in the morning and the shotgun in the afternoon.

Thanks for arranging this Cory! Keep me on “the list”.

Ps..Tuck, whatever I did to make you mad at me…I’m sorry.

    I had an absolute blast.

Man did we have a fun group! It was nice hunting with you again Joel and Slider. Great first time hunting with the infamous BK and Tuck. I think we need to get the boys’ together a few more times next year. A pleasure as always to watch such great dog work and such great dogs working together.

A big thanks to Corey & Jen Waller for setting this up and another HUGE thanks to ROYAL FLUSH . Man they have quite the place and thanks for the Tour of their British Lab Kennels. A top notch place if you are looking for a British Lab, be sure to look here. Great fields and food also.

Now that this is out of the way where are the pics BK AND SLIDER?

Slider, Tuck, and I all got private places to hunt up north within 40 miles of each other. I certainly would like to do it again with you guys going after wild birds. And late winter game farm hunting is great for the dogs and lots-o-fun! Looking forward to the next hunt!

The dogs work very well together

As for the point ten feet from the truck

I’ll explain for the people that weren’t there:

We walked back to the trucks to drop off some of our birds, grab a water or pop and give the dogs some water. I walk around my truck to see my dog, Star, on point. Lips black lab, Rufus, walks up next to Star and locks up also. A second later Rufus pounces, come out covered in snow BUT no bird. Star is still on point. Lip and I walk over, start kicking the grass, nothing. Star now dives in and comes out with only a snowy muzzle. All three dogs running around and we are thinking that they got out smarted by a pheasant. Well I go back to the truck and look over to see Star on point AGAIN. Now I am thinking

Rob looks over to see a rooster’s head sticking out of the grass. He walks over moves some grass and pulls out a rooster. This seemed like a five minute ordeal and just could have been. The best part was this grass area was about the size of an end-table.

It was a pleasure to hunt with Daisy, Rufus, Brian, Tuck, Joel, and Rob. I sure hope that we can do it again.

As for the Royal Flush Shooting Preserve

It is a great place with outstanding service. I will definitely be going back again.

Corey, THANKS for setting this up and I sure hope to make it to the one in ’08.

I’m in for sure this year, I couldn’t make it last year for some reason?? I don’t think mixing the dogs will be a problem, it never has been for me. Those pen raised birds usually sit pretty tight P.S. if you do divide the labs and pointers what am I going to do with Lindy, she is a pointing lab

Sippi, don’t worry our group had two pointers and my lab last year and they worked great together. Daisy, Starr and Rufus!

I can not wait for this once the season is over that is. I can wait along time for this until it hits Jan then bring on the Rooster Run!

Corey Waller should be back tomorrow or Thurdsday and I’m sure once he gets settled back in he will start working on this !
