February 13, 2007 at 6:59 pm #29192You guys might really want to back me up. I’m going to have to go with my 20 gauge that I’ve never even fired. And I’ve got no time to even go out and get in a little practice shooting. Could be a show!

February 13, 2007 at 7:10 pm #29193You can shoot first, then Briank, then Lip. IF the rooster is still flying its fair game for Corey, Tuck, Glenn and myself. Only for the first few birds though.
I am really looking forward to getiing out with some other IDAers. Watching the dogs work and the boys miss easy shots. What hunting is all about in my book.Ron

Exactly Slider!
I just hope ol’fats is up for it. He has not had much exercise during this Artic Pole weather. We will see you all there!

February 14, 2007 at 2:21 am #29208guys I am thinking of having one field just for pointers what do you think of that? We have 2 IDA’ers with GSP’s and two of my buddies have GSP’s too. I worry that with all the chaos that we will be having labs busting points. the cover is pretty darn good and even the most under control lab may accidentally bust a point. just a thought . waht do you think?

February 14, 2007 at 3:31 am #29209My GSP has worked with labs his whole life. Sometimes he will not point wild runners. I can and will tell everyone when he is on a bird. He points when they hold and there is a lot of scent. His range is closer than most labs that he runs with.
He never has been trained to honor, yet. He has had his points busted by flushers, never been bothered by that. So I would rather hunt him with the flushers as I do not want to bust any points either IF we decide to split fields.Ron

February 14, 2007 at 8:56 pm #29223Daisy “accidently” flushes a lot of birds and she has worked with labs and had no problem. She was out with Lip and Rufus last fall and it was fine. If the birds hold she points. If they don’t she flushes. So I would prefer to stay with the IDA guys if that is ok with them.
