That’s a good one there.Hey, I heard you were staying home this weekend! Who is going to bring the talent over?
Classic from last year:
“So, where is the water?”“Hey, that guy keeps looking at me…”
I just pee’d a little….December 6, 2006 at 3:16 am #507569Chevyguy?

Are you using the TLO as your dog?Just got back from Lamberton/Walnut Grove. Plenty of birds, But my partner for Thur.and Friday could’nt hit the broad side of a barn if he was standing in it! With the Brutal temps Thur. morning,we decided to try to stay out of the wind a little bit and hit a open field of grasses that dropped into a “lowland”. We wer’nt in very far before my partners GSH went on point….. Up the rooster came and away the rooster went! I did not get a shot at any of the birds that got up in the first 2 hours. They were all too far away for me. The 2nd field we stopped at, we were busted within minutes of starting and as anyone know’s pheasants, when 1 rooster gets up cackling…..the rest follow all the way down the field! No shots presented themselves for us this field, but we did see about 20 Pheasants and alot of them were roosters. Oh well. The 3rd place we stopped at is about 200 acres! Well there is a small slough right by where we park the truck. We were super quiet as we let the dogs out and loaded up. Bruce went 1 way and I the other…….I walked up a incline at the start,Not even to the slough yet and only about 5 feet into the weeds and about 10 pheasants took off…….Well..After picking out a Rooty longtail and dropping him on the 1st salute of the Verona o/u,Cooper jumped all over him! Just then, another Rooty jumped up scaring the bejesus outta me,I swung and dropped his landing gear, but that was it! Cooper dropped what he was doing and the chase was on! The rooster made it to Private posted land about 500 yards away. As I went to pick up the dropped bird, I picked it up …….And there was no head! As we cleaned the bird, there were no shot in the breast or legs! First time that’s ever happened to me!
Friday was not as good for seeing birds as Thur., But we ended up getting a couple. Same field as we hit first on Thurs. We worked it quietly going against the wind and both dogs were birdy through the whole field. We rocked a couple, but they just would not fall! As there was only 2 of us, We turned back with the wind and that’s when we saw the majority of our birds! Letting Cooper get out there aways and work back to me, He went to the side of me and slightly behind me and a Rooty jumped up on the edge! He did’nt get very far as He came down with 1 shot again and Cooper was on him like stink on poop! Just then another Rooster jumped, but I had to wait for it to clear a house in the back ground…….Missed! Darn!Anyway..Cooper had his first reteive to hand!!!!! Sweet Daddy!Well..it’s off to Saulk Center Sunday.
