Good Luck, weather looks good for the dogs for once. NEB opens the 28th.

Just east of Chamberlin, we are staying down in Platte on the River but hunt near Kimball off I-90, we should be getting on the road by 11 tomorrow. That gives up plenty of time for when we get there.

No pheasants for me this weekend unless I try to arrow the guy living in my back yard.

I miss the opener cuz it brings home so many old friends, but it’s just not in the cards this year. New house in a couple weeks, hopefully….

I’ll be hunting over the holidays and possibly one weekend in Dec, so that will have to enough for this year.

    Good luck guys!!

Rob, I grew up an hour south of Hoven. We played them in sports etc… Some mean talent in that area if you know what I mean. BTW, the birds in that area can be second to only a few spots in SD. Great area.

Scott, I know the area somewhat. Chamberlain. Man you sure love that River. Are you going to be hunting for soemthing else while you are out there??? Mr. Big?????

Kooty, thanks for the heads up of not using your name out there. I’m really excited. Both Rufus and I have never hunted SD Pheasants to say we are excited is a definite understatement. It should be interesting to have until noon to recover from the Hunters Stag party the night before.

Koots, whem you moving into that place????

Good luck to everyone what ever they might be pursuing this weekend.

That is the big benefit to that Noon opener

Rob, I have some friends that hunt in that area. They were out there last weekend. They said the bird numbers are down some this year, but that means it will just take an hour to get your limit instead of 30 minutes

We have a scheduled closing date of Nov 6th or 8th(can’t remember) on the new place. However, we have not closed on the current place. If that doesn’t go through, all deals are off and my wife is going to NOT be any fun to be around.

I normally would not worry about limiting out, even here in MN. However, Rufus and I are not getting any younger and I believe we will have 8 hunters on Saturday with only one 7 year old dog. I hope he is home sleeping because he is going ot be one busy dog come Saturday.

You know that noon opener is just so the bars can keep you non-residents out for another couple hours.

Rob, sounds like the weather ahead is going to be rather cool, so Rufus should do just great. 8 guys is only 24 birds, so in reality it may take you a little over an hour if you find the right spots. My brother-in-laws place is just north of there in Bowdle. I’ve been sitting on the tailgate at 12:15 sipping a beer with the dog after 3 points, shots and retrieves. Just doesn’t get much better than that!!!

    Have fun!!

YEah it sounds like highs in the low 40’s. Better than mid 60’s last Sunday. It is amazing their endurance increase when the weather is on the cool side. I’ll give a report when I get back. You know just to rub it in Koots.

    Only a few more hours.
