Wednesday I am going quail hunting in Texas for the first time! 
I cannot wait! I will post pictures up as soon as I have them, assuming I can shoot straight!

From what I see, Those little buggers can really go! I think I shoot too slow to go after those little things! Sounds like a hoot though! Have fun!

good luck on the Quail, what you will prob we hunting are Bobwhite Quail. they are very fast and can bust into the air from right between your legs, really. be careful when you are swinging on a bird, always know where the others are in your party. Have fun.

Jack.. November 15, 2005 at 2:56 pm #11944It’s a great time. I have been on several western Texas quail hunts. You will see plenty of bobs but mostly blues, or scaled quail. They don’t hold as well as bobs, and tend to run ahead more. You will see incredible coveys, over 40 birds in some. Beautiful birds, I have a bob-blue hybrid at the taxidermist now.
Enjoy the fabulous food and chilled tequila after the hunt! You’ll need it, those shin-oaks can wear you out.
