With the pressure of opening week-end now over I was ready to hit it hard today.I did see other upland hunters out but nothing like last week-end.The first spot I walked with my female setter and she pointed 1 hen and 2 roosters.I shot at one of the roosters but missed .It was then off to my 2nd spot and my male setter Deacons turn.He was on fire and I had my 3 bird limit by 9:30 a.m. The whole way back to the Tahoe he was still pointing birds and I couldn’t shoot. He kept looking back and wondering why I was shooting over his fine dog work.Best of luck to all those in the field, blind, or stand this week.

Cole and I were back at it this a.m. but we had rain and just not the best conditions for upland hunting. We hit a few spots and Cole got to shoot at a few roosters. We ended up with one rooster and a drake mallard off a pond.Mallard pic in the waterfowl section.

This morning birds.I also shot at a big covey(20-25) of partridge but did not hit any.It was cool to see them in the area.Winds were around 25-35 mph so we only hunted a few hours.

Had a few of my friends back from Pennsylvania last week for bird hunting. This was the 3rd time in 4 years that they have made the long trip to hunt Nw. Ia roosters. In 5 days of hunting they managed to bag a total of 19 birds.I got to spend a few hours in the field with them and we had a great time.

Here is a pic of my male Golden from today.I don’t do alot of upland hunting with him as my setters are my go to dogs when it comes to pheasant. I got him out today and he put a few roosters in the air for me.I missed two easy shots but I did get one rooster over him.
I think this is a cool pic.
