    Hey Guys,

I had ACL reconstrution 3 weeks ago so I got our for my first time on Saturday. Needless to say, my dog did most of the work as I limped on the deer trails in the CRP that I was hunting (Fairmont Area)

I was out on Saturday Night ( from 5-6:30 PM ) and my Golden and I flushed over 15 birds. Mostly Hens, but we saw 3 roosters (only one of which I droped). There are a lot of bird out there, good luck

    Zoomer,

My brother in law is a farmer, so I’m in tune with the corn harvest. I talked to him last night and he said in the Martin/Blue Earth County Area, that about 30%-35% of the corn is picked. However, with the forcast looking good, by this weekend they could have up to 50% of it picked. This will pack more and more birds into the groves and CRP. Good time to get out.

    Sam,
Have the day off tomorrow and just need to clear it with the boss. Thinking of coming down to that area to chase the wiley rooster. Any suggestions of which public areas I might try?
    thanks

    Zoomer,

The best public land in the area is the East Chain WMA, (just south of Rose Lake ). I haven’t been on it this year, but try to find a side close to the corn ( crop rotation keeps this changing every year) and hit it at about 4:00 till dark- you should even see roosters flying back into the grass from the corn. Let me know how you do.
