My go-to spot had bowhunters so I let them hunt in peace on opener. Tried another area and had one flush. Actually flushed the same bird twice. Ran out of ambition as the temps rose. Diverted my efforts to other activities. I did walk enough good cover to know birds are not plentiful. Hopefully I’ll see more in the near future.

NW Wis. I’ll be putting in some serious foot time in 2 weeks. I haven’t heard any reports from northern Min other than north shore which didn’t sound good. I’m very curious about north central. I won’t be making it up there this year but that’s where I usually go to find more birds.

Our cabin is in the EauClaire lakes area. We have seen 0 birds this summer. Last fall deer hunting was the first time I did Not see a bird. That has never happend to me before and I have deer hunted the area since ’76
Good luck and hope the cycle starts going up.

My son and I did some road driving and spot six different birds. We were in the Ojibwa/Winter area. Decided to stay out of the woods because of the bear hunters. No shots. Every time we spotted a few birds a bear hunter would come racing up and spook our birds or my hunting partner would slam the door shut and spook them a little earlier than planned . My son is six years old and thought it was the coolest thing just to see the birds in their natural environment and he got see a dead bear.
