we had a blast in kansas the pheasants were good and the quail were GREAT. we had the typical late season pheasant issues “birds flushing wild and runnin like crazy” but when there are that many birds you get plenty of chances. there is thousands of great walk in areas every where and the cover is awesome. we hunted a lot of private land but this is the first place i have ever hunted that the public areas where as good as the private. if any one needs any info on a hunt like this let me know the people in ks are awesome the hunt was a blast!! and best of all you can do it on a tight budget. and cheap fun is the best kind of fun. pics to come

this way really an awesome hunt. we hunted near abaline ks. private land was realtivly easy to get on just knock on the door and the nice thing, no one asked us for any money. most of the farmers just want a friendly hello and thank you and maby to chat for a few minutes if they dont look to busy. but the walk in areas are all awesome and there are hundreds of them. just get in the kansas dnr website and navigate thru to the hunting page and you can download all of the maps. there are plenty of hotel/motels around and the rate are CHEAP they are not the hilton but there not slums either most hunters i know just need a place to sleep and shower anyway. meals are the real gold mines the little cafe’s, mom and pa diners all have daily specials for $3.00 to $5.00. licence is $70.00 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR. if you buy it after the first of the year its good for the whole next year. not the two weekend b/s like south dakota. the drive to abaline is 9hrs. but i know lots of guys who drive west of the missouri in south dakota and that takes 7 1/2 hrs so whats another 1 1/2 hrs. if you need anymore info let me know

That should be enough info, and sounds great. Now you gave me the itch to hunt to go along with that itch to get back on the water. Thanks.

You sure got my attention. Lots of great public land sounds nice. I’ll definitely want to pick this topic up at the end of summer.
