We’re going earlier next year to tap into the dumb birds before everyone else thins them out. I’ll get my share yet.

James I think we need to get a IDA pheasnt hunting get together. Lots of big parcels of public land down there to hold alot of guys. Could be a graet time.

I think that is a “must do” next season. Maybe several times. Getting together a couple groups of guys and multiple dogs would be a blast. We have access to some incredible private land down there. Combine that with all the public stuff and we could easily hunt a big group for a weekend.

We’ll have to revisit this next summer. Maybe even do a pre-season warm-up on some clays followed by a little grill work and some beverages.

Steve, I’m glad to see you got James out for a little R ‘n’ R. I grew up with a Lab that didn’t have a pedigree but could whip a coon in the water, keep up with a jack rabbit, and point pheasants without out any formal training. I, too, believe it is in their genes. If I had that dog today, I would be well off from shows and stud fees.

I would definitely be in for a pheasant get together. It has been years since I have gotten the opportunity to hunt where there is a good population of pheasants.

I’m in and so is my German shorthair pointer. I love hunting Iowa and shooting their birds, we do it every year
