5 of us went out yesterday to try to get some wily roosters. Well…. We did. These birds were obviously not hunted this year! We’d walk with the wind and birds would get up,Turn around and walk it again with the wind, being really quiet and those roosters were getting up between us and the dogs as the dogs were working their way back to us. We were down in the southwestern part of the state on Private land. Other than the heat, the dogs did awesome. We shoud have been done by noon, But after hitting my 1st 2 in 2 shots, I could’nt hit the barn if I was standing inside it. My older 10 year old Choc. lab,Sammy did an outstanding job!!! I have never seen her hunt that way before. Gunner is also doing well and is getting a good Idea where those birds hang out! we hunted probably 500 acres yesterday and those 2 dogs never got off from being “birdy” for a sraight 5 hours. Really a great time!!!
Sorry ,No pics, did’nt turn out the way I wanted

Crossin Eyes and I did very well in Iowa this weekend. Sunday was a blast. Huge numbers of birds getting up. 4 guys limited by noon. Sat highlight for me was the sheer number of deer and BUCKS we saw. I think I saw about 8 different bucks, maybe more. So many I lose track. All of our dogs hunted good together. They competed on retrievs. Darn birds weren’t on the ground 5 seconds, EVER!
I’m just about to start canning. The only reason I’m online right now is to get instructions. I’ve got about 10 birds to deal with. I may get a picture up in a day or so once I download.

This is my first time canning them so I’m not sure. From what I’ve heard they should be very good. My brother cans venison and I have canned salmon once. I eat canned chicken from the store and that is good. I’ll let you know.
